Abbie is Margaret’s beloved and overly protective 17-year-old daughter and she focuses on her adoration and successful biotech profession. Everything in her life appears to be going smoothly up until she recognizes a person from her past at a business conference, at which point she suffers a panic attack. That person turns out to be David Moore, the man Margaret dated when she was only 18 and unable to comprehend the toxicity it would bring. David is abusive beyond words, and his appearance stirs up memories in ways that push Margaret over the edge. Margaret smothers her daughter, telling her to check in frequently and not leave the house out of fear that David may harm Abbie. While this is going on, Margaret develops a strategy to finally rid herself of David’s control.
